A visit to the Museum from a Senator of Canada, The Honourable Vivienne Poy
In a letter addressed to us on June 28, 1999.......
Senator Poy wrote:
Dear Howe, Bing and Dan:
Thank you so much for presenting me with the Dragon and the Maple Leaf a bookthat will be treasured always in my Office in Ottawa. l am only just beginning to learn about the history of the Chinese in Canada since my appointment to the Senate of Canada. As you know. I grew up In Hongkong and therefore have very little knowledge of the Chinese who have been here for the last couple of hundred years.
Thank you also for taking my husband and I through the display in the Museum in the Chinese Cultural Centre and to view the special display cases on the Chinese Canadian veterans during Second World War. It was indeed an Eye-opener for me. I am most impressed by the collection that you have, and wish you continuous success in your work in the collection with the Museum.
Again. it was most delightful & having the opportunity to meet many of you, and to make new friends as well as to reacquaint myself with many whom I met in November.
