CHINESE CANADIANS: STANDING ON GUARD FOR THEE Past, Present & Future.
Accepted by Howe Lee for The Chinese Canadian Military Museum from Rear Admiral J. Y. Forcier, the 26" x 22" display depicting over 60 years of service by Chinese Canadians in the Canadian Navy.
The photographs of WWll Corvette HMCS Calgary & the new frigate of the same name, are surrounded by two Chinese Canadian sailors of the past, & the seven sailors of Chinese ancestry currently serving with MARPAC.
Lt William Lore of Victoria, BC was the first Chinese Canadian in the Royal Canadian Navy & the first Chinese officer in the Commonwealth. He was the first Canadian to go ashore in Hongkong when it was liberated from the Japanese Forces towards the end of WWll. Evelyn Lui was the first Canadian to enroll at Vancouver's Naval Reserve Div. HMCS Discovery in 1951.
