The Canadian Women's Army
Corps began accepting volunteers in September 1941.
Pte Edna
Silaine Lowe, W.11703 of Victoria, the sister of Bill & \Stanley Lowe,
wn\enlisted in July 1942. She took her basic training at Vermillion, Alta. Edna
was posted to Work Point Barracks at Esquimalt as cipher clerk with RCCS. She
received her discharge in November 1943.
Cpl Lila Wong, W.111494
of Nanaimo, BC, also joined the CWACs as did Pte Mary Laura Mah, W111243,
of Victoria [born Salmon Arm, BC], who enlisted in Vancouver. Pte Mah was
employed as teletype operator at 29 Admin. Corps from 13 May 1944 to 6 July
1945. Pte.Mary Ko Bong, W.115036, also of Victoria, served in the CWACs
as well. Mary is the sister of John, Peter and Andrew Ko Bong who also served in
the Canadian armed forces. Pte. Helen Hoe, W.100858, served in No. 40
Admin. Unit. Ottawa..........
