Howard\u00a0Lee hailed from\u00a0Vancouver. He was trained for infantry duties and then, along with his\u00a0brother Leonard Lee<\/a>, agreed to go to South East Asia. Landing\u00a0in India, Lee was\u00a0loaned to British Intelligence’s\u00a0Special Operations Executive and became part of a secret unit called\u00a0Force 136. Their mission was to be trained in commando-style fighting, jungle survival and espionage so that they could be parachuted behind Japanese lines and support resistance networks.<\/p>\n
