His older brother <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ccmms.ca\/staging\/9619\/veteran-stories\/army\/frank-wong\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Frank Wong<\/a> joined the army. And a few years later, Bing signed up too.<\/p><p>He became an expert marksmen. And although Bing weighed not much more than\u00a0100 lbs, he could often be seeing hauling\u00a0around a 25lb Bren gun.<\/p><p>By May 1945, the war in Europe was over but the conflict\u00a0in the Pacific theatre raged on. Bing decided he might as well\u00a0volunteer for the Tiger Force. This\u00a0was a special group of volunteer Americans, Canadians and British who were being specially trained for an eventual invasion of Japan. That invasion was set for November 8, 1945.
